How might Samsung TTT design a robot for Gen Z that can solve household needs in the next 5 years?

Who is Gen Z?

A blanket term for people born between 1997 and 2010. They will make up 40% of the consumer market by 2020.

On the whole, Gen Z renters will be twice as likely to be living with roommates and/or friends than all renters from other generations.

We created a framework to represent the user’s latent needs and desired features from a robotic product. This framework emerged from our research of the target demographic.

Our users have to perform at least four task modes in the same space throughout the day.

Research showed a developing opportunity trend. The majority of the Gen Z demographic use one surface for almost all functions.

With that datapoint the task footprint of the 2024 household shrunk from 800 square feet to the size of a 30 inch by 70 inch tabletop surface.

Based on our research, our team of 16 came up with a

co-bot system that can help our user create their ideal surface environment by changing both the tabletop and computer screen configurations or returning to a previous task by reproducing set layouts. Our solution empowers the user to efficiently interact with their environment and balance their daily routine.

Project Coda is a robotic solution that can extend user capabilities by optimizing household surface space, constructing healthy routines, and completing menial tasks with ease in co-living urban spaces.
